On New Year’s eve, Occupy Harrisonburg will lead a candle light walk from Harrisonburg First Night at Court Square to Mason and Martin Luther King, Jr. Way.

The Harrisonburg and Rockingham County NAACP 7132 will host its Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration on Sunday, January 19th at 3:00 p.m. at Simms Education Center to accommodate the Martin Luther King, Jr. Way Street Renaming Ceremony. An interfaith choir under the direction of Laura Douglass, Music Director of Asbury United Methodist Church will be the featured music, along with other participants honoring Dr. King.

10:00 a.m. – Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Chapel at Eastern Mennonite University followed by a discussion forum, ending at 11:30

12:00 Noon – Harrisonburg City Martin Luther King, Jr. Way Street Renaming Program at Memorial Hall

1:30 p.m. – Unity March from Memorial Hall to Main Street and back.

7:00 p.m. – James Madison University will host their Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. University Program at Wilson Hall on the campus of James Madison University.
